We Love Meatless Monday
What do Simon Cowell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Yoko Ono and Paul McCartney have in common? They all advocate (and hopefully follow) Meatless Monday.
Meatless Monday is a non-profit organization that works in conjunction with the John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. It’s goal is to reduce meat consumption by 15% to improve both individual’s health and the health of the planet.
According to their site, “Going meatless once a week may reduce your risk of chronic preventable conditions like cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. It can also help reduce your carbon footprint and save precious resources like fresh water and fossil fuel.”
The site has tons of recipes and lots of fun facts. Including a great section on getting kids cooking in the kitchen.
Check it out and if the spirit moves you, please join in. Do us a favor though and don’t just order out for cheap, crappy pizza … we do love the home-made variety though with whole wheat organic crust, and organic veggies, sauce and a light tossing of cheese.

meatless monday = yummmmy!
ps: i love the new site – eveything looks fantastic.
Thanks so much, it’s something I just started instituting myself and it’s pretty easy, no big deal and we get to help the planet a teensy bit.
This is the way real change takes place, in incremental steps. If we all go meatless one day a week that makes a big difference overall but it is a small thing for the individual or family.
Love love love the blog Lisa.
Love.
I like it! Meatless Monday seems like a good way of getting a foot in the door towards healthy living and healthy food production. And it doesn’t hurt to have some big stars promoting it
Of course, just because your diet is meatless doesn’t mean it’s healthier. You have to go for nutrient-rich foods or you’ll get that always-hungry feeling that will make you think that vegetarians are just long-suffering pious fools
(We’re not, just so you know).
Thanks for the post, and I concur, your blog looks great, Lisa.
I hope you’ll give it a go
