For the last few months, I’ve been heavily reducing the amount of meat in my diet. Having been brought up on great home-grown meat from our family farm, I never really considered the quality or ethics involved in the production of what was on my plate. As I read and learn more, however, I find myself leaning towards a more vegetarian diet and going veggie for a week is proving to be an interesting venture. I chatted about my thoughts to my vegetarian friend Emma, and got her take on the choice to cut out meat completely.

Start by planning one meal a week that doesn’t include meat. Do yourself a favor and don’t count pizza or a big pile of processed pasta and canned tomato sauce as your one meal. Look for something that includes fresh veggies and meatless proteins like tofu or nuts.
