Fresh produce is so versatile in what you can make with it. You can create salads, side dishes, juices … the options are practically endless. But did you ever think about making music?
Our parents always yelled at us. “Stop playing with your food!” Thankfully some people didn’t listen. One of these folks is Jonathan Dagan, a songwriter, producer, remixer, and visual artist known by his stage name J.Viewz.
By using technology, Viewz was able to turn eggplants, grapes, mushrooms, strawberries, and a carrot into musical instruments, each triggering a sound through an interface with his keyboard. The result is a melodic reinterpretation of the song “Teardrop” by the electronica band Massive Attack. What the video below really emphasizes is the endless opportunities there are for creativity in the 21st century; we appear to no longer be limited by our imaginations.
Enjoy the song, and may you be inspired to be equally creative the next time you decide to play with your food (even if it’s just to make a new recipe using some of your favorite ingredients).
