Food Is Love
This is my mantra. This is how I live in my kitchen. My meaning of the phrase has evolved over the years. It used to mean my parents letting me go through the McDonald’s drive-through window twice a year, but now it means how I treat myself, friends and family, and the planet. Food is Love.
Love Yourself
The basics of existence includes eating. How we eat says a lot about how we treat ourselves. It is very much you get out what you put in. You need to avoid the junk food, keep the portions in check, skip the processed crap and eat with others to be kind to yourself. Put another way, focus on fruits, veggies, whole grains and small portions of meats. Try for organic as much as possible. (Feel free to go vegan or vegetarian, we’re all inclusive here.)
Love Your Kin
When you’re cooking for others share the same love you give yourself with them. Choose fresh ingredients, cooked with attention, focused on healthy eating. Keep sweets and treats to a minimum and make sure there’s enough to go around. Be aware of their likes and dislikes and try to accommodate them as best you can.
Love Your Planet
Buy local, sustainable and eco-friendly whenever possible. Try container gardening with herbs or go all out with a backyard garden and heck, maybe even some chickens. Being aware of how the food chain effects the planet shows the ultimate respect and love for this big beautiful Earth we’re on.
That’s how I show my love. Some weeks are better than others. I know I’m not taking care of myself when I’m hitting restaurants and frozen dinners regularly. Rushing through a meal prep never gets the results I want. But slowing down a bit and taking the time to eat well always pays me back with a healthier body, sharp thinking and plenty of energy.
How do you show love? Let us know here.

This is so true. This is how I express my love for my family. My husband says you can taste the love in my food.
I also wanted to let you know that I love your blog. I found it via a friend on Facebook. It’s right up my alley!
Thanks Kimberly, I appreciate all the support … this blog is a passion project for me.
