About
The True Food Movement grew out of an online friendship between Lisa Johnson and Diane Mulholland. Both fitness professionals, Lisa and Diane are passionate about teaming physical exercise with healthy, responsible eating habits. Many online discussions, and the occasional heated rant, about everything from additives to zucchini led to a determination to make a difference, and perhaps change the world.
At the risk of sounding clichéd, you wouldn’t put poor quality fuel in your Bugatti would you? And yet the western world has become so infiltrated with bad food practices that we are seriously endangering the long term wellness of our bodies. Food additives, processing and packaging techniques, feedlots and excessive transportation are reducing the overall quality of food and slowly undermining our health.
The True Food Movement is not here to insist you eat only lentils and sprouts for all eternity. We recognise and respect everyone’s choices from vegan to omnivore. What we do want is to show you how simple it can be to make easy, gradual improvements to the quality of your diet so that you can reap the long-term health benefits, and the planet can be a bit happier too!
If you’ve just arrived at the True Food Movement then you may be wondering “How do I even begin?” That’s what we’re here for! Swing by our Getting Started page for five simple changes you can implement right now, and keep an eye on the blog for more ideas, recipes, and information.
Good luck!

Lisa Johnson had the usual route to organics as a city girl. She had a gorgeous baby boy and then promptly freaked out about what, exactly, she was feeding him. She applied her zest for research and gradually made changes to improve her family’s diet. Lisa runs Modern Pilates, a studio system in Massachusetts and actively blogs about all things fitness at Lisa Johnson Fitness. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Harvard.
Lisa is contemplating CSAs and questioning the butcher on every trip to her local organics grocery store. She searches for local, sustainable, humanely-raised, organic food wherever she can find it.
Diane Mulholland grew up in Australia on a small country farm. She and her family grew much of their own food, storing, freezing and preserving produce to last most of the year. Going home for a visit these days is a treat, where sometimes entire meals can be home-produced, picked fresh just a half hour before dinner. This background inspired Diane with a passion for fresh, natural food and a distaste for anything that messes it up.
Now working in London, UK as a Pilates instructor, Diane is still determined to eat as well as possible, and keeps an eye on the latest research in health and nutrition. Diane has a Bachelor of Arts (Modern Languages) and a Bachelor of Teaching from Melbourne University, and is certified through the Body Control Pilates Academy in London. You can find her either in the park, or at Reach Pilates UK.
